Beautiful, lackluster packaging protection I really liked the art direction of the game, so I bought this book. The art inside the book are absolutely gorgeous. There's also a lot of content (400 pages). However the ship packaging truly sucked, because of how heavy the book is, the book got a huge dent in the corner during the shipping. It's well worth the price but I really hope amazon would wrap this book properly to prevent such damage on it.Amazon has the worst packaging for books of all the online book retailers I purchased this book for my son who is a Nintendo fanatic and loves the Zelda: BoTW game. Upon receiving the book I noticed and could feel it moving around in the box a lot. When i opened the box I immediately noticed the damage(see pics). If I did not care that the book would get damaged or would show wear after some use then I would have purchased a Prima Games brand but I purchased this specific book because it is an official Nintendo product(published by Dark Horse Comics) and my son collects official Nintendo products. Amazon packed this book, which is quite heavy, in an oversize box with no padding material, which let the book slide around and bang against the inside walls off the box during shipping. There is damage to the corner on the front cover, and the front cover is bowed and does not sit flat when held closed. I am completely disappointed how Amazon packages there books. This is the second book I have purchased in two weeks that I have received with damage to the corners. I will be requesting a replacement or I WILL BE RETURNING FOR A REFUND.For the book itself:I personally own a couple of illustrated game books and considered them high quality. My sons has more game books but are mostly Prima Games brand and used for game walk-throughs. I have never seen the type of quality in a book that I experienced with this Zelda book. I was stunned on the initial flip-through. I had expected the book to be stiff and the pages to flip back if I did not hold them down but was amazed at how the pages would naturally lay without holding them down. That being said, the pages are quite thick; much thicker than everyday printer paper. You can feel the quality as you flip through the pages. The book has a lot of full pages of quality art work of images you will not see anywhere else. Some images start as colorless broken down sketches and develop into full color images of a character. Quite nice if you are into sketching. There are a lot of "Developer's Notes" throughout the book that offer details about the character, location, or item being presented on the page. Measured with a tape measure, the book is 9.3125 x 12.25 x 1.5625(Width x Height x Thick) and seems to weigh a little more than a 5lb dumbell that I used for comparison.I am very happy with the purchase of this book. I am glad I did not settle for any other brand. However, I am not happy with Amazon's packaging. The 5-star rating reflects how I feel about the book itself. An extensive and exhaustive companion to the art, lore, development, and history of BOTW As a fan of the previous Dark Horse Legend of Zelda books - Hyrule Historia, Arts & Artifacts, and Zelda Encyclopedia, I was eagerly awaiting this next installment that was entirely focused on the latest entry in The Legend of Zelda franchise: Breath of the Wild.Dark Horse once again does not disappoint, with this beautiful hardcover book featuring 424 large full color pages jam-packed with artwork, design sketches, maps, diagrams, tables, charts, and everything you could possibly want to know about this amazing game. The book is massive and has a nice weight to it, it's even larger than the Arts & Artifacts book (the largest of the three published before it).It contains a huge amount of artwork, not only from promotional material but of every single character you run into in the game with so much detail and quality given to every page. This book is an absolute steal for it's price and is worth it purely as an art-book alone. It is however not merely an art book but also serves multiple functions. It goes into the design philosophy behind the game, what inspired the team to make it, and has numerous full page interviews with the team discussing their design choices for Breath of The Wild.It doesn't stop there. Zelda Lore buffs will be delighted to know there's a huge section given over to the background and history of The Breath of The Wild's world including independent history of each race and the preparation and fight against Calamity Ganon both in the past and in the modern age, complete with maps illustrating battle plans and movements, and even specific entries detailing the history behind the multitude of ancient ruins dotting Hyrule.Character buffs also have a huge amount to love here, with full color illustrations of every main character and detailed background info on many of them and their race.Let's not forget Items and Monsters, with several pages given over to showcase the wide breadth of Breath of the Wild's weapons and armor sets, as well as the multitude of enemies you will have to fight with them, but not just enemies, it also includes the flora and fauna you can come across. With even the additional DLC content given loving detail in this book, there is truly no stone left unturned and if you love Breath of the Wild, this companion book is an absolute treasure to add to your collection and well worth it!Highly recommended!
